MicroSol 3+

The improved formulation MicroSol 3+ offers enhanced broad spectrum efficacy, improved environmental safety and is recommended for treatment of all laboratory equipment including surface decontamination.

MicroSol 3+ is reformulated to include a unique and synergistic blend of twin chain quaternary ammonium compounds (Q.A.C.s) and amphoteric biocides. This combination enhances the efficacy compared to single chain Q.A.C.s and amphoterics either as single biocides and even combined.

MicroSol 3+ efficacy is therefore enhanced in the face of organic challenge due to the new Q.A.C. and has been tested at reputable independent test laboratories both in the UK and USA. Where possible, data has been collected using the new European efficacy standards (EN Methods). These methods will be the standards required for the recently adopted European Biocides Product Directive under which all biocides in the EU will be regulated. As additional methods transition from provisional to approved, further studies will be added.

The test standards against which MicroSol 3+ has been evaluated are:

  • EN1276 for gram negative and gram positive bacteria
  • EN1650 for fungi such as Candida and Aspergillus spores
  • A.O.A.C. for enveloped viruses such as HIV and Hepatitis
  • Method of Babb Fraise and Griffiths, H.I.R.L (Hospital Infection Research Laboratory), forMycobacteria (M. terrae – M. tuberculosis surrogate).

Thus, MicroSol 3+ is proven to be effective against key human pathogenic micro-organisms to internationally recognised standards which challenge the efficacy in hard water and soil conditions.

MicroSol 3+ retains the action of MicroSol 3, interacting with DNA and RNA molecules, to have a deleterious effect on their secondary structure thus deactivating them within blood, plasma or other samples. Analysis performed by Warwick Analytical Service Ltd (June 2005) conclude that MicroSol 3+ affects the thermal stability of homonucleotide DNAs rendering them unable to re-anneal. It is therefore a suitable decontaminant for pipettes and surfaces for use in molecular biology laboratories and when carrying out DNA profiling for forensic applications.

  • Improved Formulation MicroSol 3+

  • Proven efficacy against bacteria, fungi, yeasts, algae & viruses
  • DNA inactivation
  • Cleaning and disinfection in one easy step
  • Non-corrosive
  • No residues
  • Readily biodegradable
  • Lower ecotoxicity*
  • Double the hard water tolerance*
  • More than twice the efficacy under organic soiling conditions*
  • Higher tolerance of anionic traces* – eg. Effective in the presence of 300ppm sodium lauryl sulphate*Compared to single chain Q.A.C.s

MicroSol 3+ is available in the same convenient packaging as the original MicroSol 3. Efficacy is determined at a standard dilution of 1:10 of the 5 litre concentrate which equates to the concentration of the 500ml ready to use spray bottle and the solution impregnated into the handy hard surface wipes. MicroSol 3+ is biodegradable, has low toxicity, and is non-corrosive making it user and environmentally friendly. A surfactant is also included to supplement the biocidal efficacy with cleaning properties obviating the need for pre-cleaning before disinfection. MicroSol 3+ leaves no surface residues and is non-staining and produces no unpleasant odours. All these advantages with New MicroSol 3+ at no additional cost over the original formulation.
